Bahar Bayraktaroğlu

Human Resources Coordinator

Bahar joined the Istanbul&I family in 2018 and has worked on a dozen of projects as a volunteer. Previously, she managed the Turkish Speaking Club (TSC) with Seda Akagündüz and took on roles on the planning team of several talks and conferences, including the Istanbul&I Black Lives Matter (BLM) panel. She was elected as the HR Coordinator of Istanbul&I in 2021 and currently holds that position. She is responsible to maintain the Istanbul&I volunteer databases and ensure our volunteers are actively participating in Istanbul&I’s programs and engaged in the organization.

Outside of Istanbul&I, she is a Teaching Assistant at Sabanci University, where she is also writing her MA Thesis. Her research interest includes slavery and children with particular attention to the Ottoman context. Bahar studied History with a double major in International Relations at Istanbul Medeniyet University, Turkey. Since she wants to pursue an academic career, she is looking to conduct doctoral research.
